team9 is us - a one man, 9 piece collective from Perth, Australia. Best known for our mash up and remix productions, we’ve created mixes for XFM (UK), Triple J (Australia), Indie 103 and Live 105 (US) and Ministry of Sound Radio, and had tracks featured in Rolling Stone and Blender (US), NME (UK) and erm...Zoo Weekly in Australia . In addition to the crazy world of mash ups we make original music which has featured across prime time TV shows in Australia. Our original music has also been featured by national radio station, Triple J, as being amongst the next crop of artists for 2008 – ‘As we travel’ was featured on the station. Its also worth remembering that at the end of every year we team up with our good friends at Stereogum to mix, splice and generally ruin the greatest tracks of the year – yep, coz that’s how we roll. Ahem..
Most famously we were sent a Cease and Desist by Warners for our role in the Dean Gray/Green Day mash up album, American Edit, an album that we made alongside Party Ben. They sent it in a bronze envelope and spelt my name wrong but the message behind all the legal jargon, was clear – ‘Copyright, sue, blah, blah, breached, something, something’. We Ceased and Desisted, but a protest day, led by the World Famous Audio Hacker and dubbed ‘Dean Gray Tuesday’, received widespread media attention and led to hundreds of sites hosting the album for one day.
We also record under the names The Found Sound Orchestra, Amstrad Rockers, Ruff Muff, PleasePlease and The High Speed Dubbers.
